Cause of Injury: Mountain Biking accident

VVF Scholarship: Recovery Training Sessions

What are you Facing, Embracing, Defying and Conquering? I was in San Diego trying a jump line on my mountain bike and on the last jump I went off of it, overshooting and landing on my head breaking my C4 through C6 vertebrae. I am facing paralysis because of a mountain bike accident which has left me paralyzed from the chest down.

How do you FACE it? I face this injury with an open mind to stay positive and deal with anything this throws at me.

How do you EMBRACE it? I embrace it by taking it day by day to continue making the most of my life.

How do you DEFY it? I defy it by doing things that I didn’t even think was possible and continue to strive to try new things.

How do you CONQUER it? I conquer this injury by waking up each morning with a positive attitude to continue making the most of my life by partaking in sports like surfing.

What does this scholarship from VVF mean to you? I will continue to be able to do physical therapy which means a lot to me because it keeps my mind sane and keeps my body strong to continue trying new things.
