Meet James

Since I was paralyzed in 2017, two of my goals were to become more independent and be able to drive again. Before applying for a scholarship from Victoria’s Victory Foundation, my wheelchair was too heavy to take apart the wheels and then put in the car. Every time we wanted to go somewhere, my wife would have to go through this process. Overtime, it started to damage her back and shoulders. I knew if I couldn’t find a lighter wheelchair, I was going to become completely dependent on another caregiver.

However, since receiving a scholarship from Victoria’s Victory Foundation for a lightweight wheelchair, it has made the transfer process so much easier. My chair is easier to break down and lighter for my wife to take apart and put into our car. I feel indebted to VVF. This has been a huge step towards gaining more of my independence back. Once again, thank you.
